Filmmaker Arbaaz Khan’s first directorial venture Dabangg 2 has concluded the first weekend with a record breaking collection at the Indian Box Office. Its three day business is bigger than Salman’s previous release Ek Tha Tiger, which had raked in Rs 60.32 crores in three days. The Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer has become the first non-holiday Friday release to cross Rs 50 crore mark at thedomestic collection centres in 2012.
With Salmania soaring the viewers’ craze for the film to the sky high, Dabangg 2, which is a sequel to Salman Khan’s Dabangg, had registered a huge amount of advance ticket booking prior its release. The romantic-action movie, which released in 3500 screens in the country on Friday, opened to an overwhelming response at the domestic Box Office
with its occupancy ranging between 90% and 100% at both single screens and multiplexes across the country on the first day.
Dabangg 2 did a record-breaking collection at the domestic Box Office on the first day and became the biggest non-holiday Friday opener, beating the record of Rowdy Rathore, which had raked in Rs 15.1 crores on its
opening day. Its business was expected to see a big jump on Saturday, but instead of going up, the movie witnessed a dip of 7 to 8% percent in its collection. Its second day collection was far better than that of Ek Tha Tiger. But Dabangg 2 obviously witnessed a massive jump in its collection on Sunday.
The Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer has collected a total of Rs 64.66 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 21.10 cr on Fri, Rs 19.06 cr on Sat and Rs 24.5 cr on Sun. With this Dabangg 2 has broken three days record of Ek Tha Tiger, which had collected Rs 32.92 cr on Wed, Rs 14.5 cr on Thur, Rs 12.90 cr on
Fri.
However, Salman Khan’s Dabangg was a Blockbuster movie at the Indian BoxOffice and its success had created lot of craze and expectations among the film goers for Dabangg 2. The makers had done massive promotion for
the movie. Although the sequel received mixed reviews from film critics, Salmania drove the viewers crazy towards theatres in its opening weekend. Trade experts say that it is expected to cross Rs 100 crore mark at the Box Office on December 25.
