Being a housewife not easy: Suhasi Dhami
After playing young and aggressive Abha in “Yahan Main Ghar Ghar
Kheli”, actress Suhasi Dhami has taken on the role of a homemaker in new
show “Housewife Hain…Sab Jaanti Hai”. She admits being a homemaker is a
challenging job.
“I am not a housewife myself, but I have seen my mother and my grandmother who have been homemakers. I have seen how they used to manage the household chores and I know it is not an easy job,” Suhasi told IANS.
The show aims to convey that being a housewife is not a cakewalk.
“We often take housewives for granted, but the fact is that they are smart in their own way. It is very difficult to take care of small and pitty issues. Through our show, we want to send out a message that housewives shouldn’t be taken for granted. It is a light-hearted show, which will also put light on various social issues,” added the actress.
The show went on air Monday on Zee TV.
Suhasi came into spotlight with TV show “Ek Chabhi Hai Padoss Mein” in 2006 and went on to do another popular show “Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli”.
In a short span, Suhasi says, the industry has instilled a lot of patience in her.
“This industry has taught me to be patient. And whatever I have done, I have always given my best in it. Even if it is a small role, you should give your 100 percent and leave the rest to others,” she said.

Big Tensions Mounting Around SVSC
‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ is one of those big films that
geared up for Pongal release but it seems hurdles are on the way for
this latest multi starrer.
Right now, the big focus for this big movie should be promotion and nothing sort of is happening at the moment. Neither Mahesh nor Venkatesh are involved in promoting this flick. Also, the post-production of this movie has become a mammoth task and till date dubbing is also not completed. After that there needs to be a final re-recording on a war footing basis, dts mixing and other works. If all these things happen just like that, then movie will release for Sankranthi, otherwise the date will be shifted to a week later.
Already, SVSC’s lone competitor ‘Naayak’ is proceeding faster in terms of promotion and the leaked song of Charan is also doing its job. We have to see how these tensions around SVSC will get cleared.

Telugu film on Delhi gangrape in post-production phase
The Delhi gang-rape has inspired Telugu director Ramana Gaddam to
recreate the horrific story in his forthcoming Telugu drama ‘Nisha’. The
idea, he says, is to send out a strong message to the government and
public.
“I’m not trying to cash in on the sensitivity of this issue but bring to light a barbaric act that shook our nation. I want to send a strong message through my film that such acts can’t be taken lightly and the perpetrators should be punished severely,” Gaddam told News agency.
The film, though not based solely on the Delhi incident in which a 23-year-old was brutally gang-raped and who died, has other commercial elements to make it an interesting watch.
“Even though a small portion of the film will revolve around the incident, it is not entirely about it. We have added all elements to make it a typical commercial entertainer,” Gaddam said.
‘Nisha’ is produced by J Dhanraj. Goldee, Sunny and Pranay Kumar have composed music.
The film, currently in post-production phase, stars Kiran Kumar, Ananya, Kalyan and Narsing in lead roles.

Star wars are just a hype: Mohanlal
Mohanlal likes surprises in everything — be it the characters he
portrays or the initiatives he undertakes. With three back-to-back hits
in 2012, the actor is going as strong as ever. In an exclusive chat with
TOI, the actor talks about the recent controversies involving him, his
take on the so-called new-generation movies and more. Excerpts from the
interview:
We hear you are heading to Hollywood? When they approached me with the subject, I said, yes. That is just not enough to start a project. I can confidently say I’m doing a movie only when the director says ‘action and cut’. But I don’t know when it will happen. Right now, it’s just in the pipeline.
You’re a columnist and writer, ever thought of scripting a movie? I am a columnist and have published books too; but that doesn’t mean I can write a script. Scripting is not an easy job and I will not get into things which I am not sure of.
Does that mean you will never attempt it in future?
I can’t predict the future. I haven’t planned anything so far. I have done movies in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada, and have even acted in a Sanskrit play. But none of these were planned. So, if I’m meant to do a Hollywood project, or script a movie, it will happen.
Many actors have turned to direction. Will we see a movie being directed by Mohanlal?
Sometimes when I hear a good story, I feel like I should direct it. But then, when I think about the hard work and patience involved in the whole process, I feel it is better to stay away. Direction is not an easy task; it has got its own language and grammar. If you want to make a movie, you will have to be up-to-date about a lot of things. It is better to be an actor. When you’re an actor, everything is taken care of. However, an actor can be successful only with a lot of hard work.
We hear you’re not a fan of new generation movies and that you won’t work with young talents.
When I came into the industry 30 years ago, the movies made then were touted as new generation movies. I consider this just another phase of cinema and there’s nothing unusual about it. Even many of the so called new generation movies are not successful. But what we can pray is that, in every age, let there be good movies. I do work with debutants; be it directors or actors. Currently, I’m doing debutant Salam’s Red Wine with Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali. In Siddique’s Ladies and Gentleman, there is Krish Sathar. It’s comfortable to work with young artists. They are all talented. At the same time, I can only take up projects that will exploit the acting prowess in me.
This year was also a year of controversies
Controversies no longer affect me. There are so many of them; I guess now the media has lost topics to write about me. For example, the recent controversy involving Karmayodha poster, where I was seen with a cigar. If such posters are objectionable, then the concerned authorities should be informed. Our posters had the Corporation’s seal. Why did the Corporation give its approval for such posters? And why am I targeted? I am a performer. Will you file a case against me just because I kill goons in movies? During the Income Tax raid at my house, the news spread that I’ve illegal possessions. There were even rumours that I’ve secured them using biometric lock, which needs my finger print to open it. It was actually my personal theatre, which I had locked since there was expensive equipment. But nobody reported the truth.
Again, there was the ivory case against me. It was with me for years and many magazines had featured it enthusiastically. I have the licence to keep it. There are many cases against me that are being dropped by the court. But nobody reports that. Moral policing is high among the public and the media.
So, even the so called star wars are just media hype?
Of course! Mammootty and I have acted in 53 films together. In every age, there are comparisons between two actors — MGR-Sivaji, Naseer-Sathyan, Soman-Sukumaran, Rajini-Kamal; like that, there is Mammootty-Mohanlal. We will team up more often if directors find suitable roles for us.
Is there a Priyadarshan movie with Dulquer in the pipeline?
A Priyadarshan movie is in the offing. But Dulquer is not part of it; at least, I’m not aware of it.
Many star kids are making their Mollywood entry. When will we see Pranav on screen?
Pranav has already made his on screen presence as a child artist. But I won’t stop my children from doing what they want. If he is interested in acting, he will do it. But right now, I don’t think he is interested. He had offers from Kollywood; but he seems uninterested. He was the best actor in his school. Right now, he is studying philosophy in Sydney. I have never asked him what he is planning to do by studying philosophy. It was his choice and it’s his choice whether to take up acting or not. Same goes for my daughter as well. She is also the best actor in school. But she seems more interested in theatre. If they are interested in doing movies, I don’t have any right to stop them. But because they are Mohanlal’s children, it’s not necessary that they will be successful.
One of Mollywood’s all-time favourite was your pairing with Sreenivasan as CIDs Dasan and Vijayan. Will they come back on screen again?
Why not? If there is a good script or something that’s better than the original one, then I don’t have any problem doing it again with anyone.
Your New Year plans and next projects…
This New Year, I will be in Dubai with my family. After spending a few days with them, I will be back to work. Currently, I am doing Siddique’s Ladies & Gentleman and Salam’s Red Wine. There are a few more projects in the pipeline.

Skyfall movie breaks $1bn record at global Box office
The latest James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ has smashed through the
1-billion-dollar mark at the box office, as it continues its
record-breaking showing in cinemas worldwide.
The spy adventure has also become the first movie to earn at least 100 million pounds in ticket sales in Britain, the Telegraph reported.
The Sam Mendes-directed film, which was released 50 years after the franchise’s first movie ‘Dr No’ in 1962, has now become the highest earning out of all of the 23 James Bond instalments.
The film’s executives announced that it had now earned at least 1 billion dollars (620 million pounds) at the global box office, with 710.6 million dollars (440 million pounds) being made outside of North America.
Despite falling out of the week’s top 10 films in the US, the James Bond film is only the third movie to cross 1-billion-dollar mark in worldwide ticket sales this year, after ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
Over the weekend, the film took a further 1.4 million dollars (867,000 pounds) in Britain, bringing its total earnings to 161.6 million dollars, making it the first film to break the 100-million-pound barrier in the UK.
Before ‘Skyfall’, ‘Avatar’ was the highest grossing film in Britain, taking more than 94 million pounds at the UK box office during its cinematic release.
Since its release in October, ‘Skyfall’ has broken several box office records. In its first three weeks of release it grossed more than the combined earnings of the two previous Bond movies, ‘Quantum of Solace’ and ‘Casino Royale’.

“Himmatwala” and “Chashme Buddoor”. Movie buffs looking for ‘hatke’
cinema won’t get disappointed either as there’s lot in store for them

Financially too, the Hindi film industry seems to be entering a positive year, with trade experts predicting that there will be movies which could end up spinning Rs.200 crore each at the box office.
“I think the industry is only growing with each passing year and there will be no downfall as far as the film industry is concerned. The year 2013 will be better than 2012 and there are some wonderful films lined up,” Balkishan Shroff of Shringar Films told IANS.
The year begins with the release of “Table No. 21″, featuring Rajeev Khandelwal and Tena Desae, and “Rajdhani Express”, which marks the directorial debut of tennis ace Leander Peas. Both are small budget films.
Next up is Vishal Bhardwaj’s much-awaited rustic drama “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” featuring Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapoor. Its desi Haryana appeal, witty one-liners and quirky song lyrics have already created a lot of buzz and movie buffs are eagerly looking forward to its release.
“Matru…” will be followed by Sudhir Mishra’s bold and serious film “Inkaar”, which zooms the lens on workplace exploitation. That will be followed by Abbas-Mustan’s “Race 2″, a sequel to 2008 film “Race”. While Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor reprise their roles in the sequel, the new additions include John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel.
After rocking 2012 with five successful films, Akshay Kumar’s first major release in 2013 will be heist drama “Special Chabbis”, and he will later be seen in “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2″.
After “F.A.L.T.U.”, choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza will present his first 3D dance film “ABCD: AnyBody Can Dance” with Prabhudheva in the lead. Promotions for the movie will begin full swing in January.
Director Abhishek Kapoor, who rocked the nation with the 2008 film “Rock On”, is set to release “Kai Po Che”, a big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller “The 3 Mistakes of My Life”. The film features Amit Sadh, Raj Kumar Yadav and Amrita Puri and marks the Bollywood debut of popular TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Movie aficionados are also looking forward to the release of Farhan Akhtar-starrer “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, a biopic of former athlete Milkha Singh. It is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and its theatrical trailer has already garnered a positive response.
Overall, there are going to be several sequels all the way in the new year – “Murder 3″, “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns”, “Aashiqui 2″, “Yamla Pagla Deewana 2,” “Ragini MMS 2″, “Krrish 3″ and “Dhoom 3″. Interestingly, while Vivek Oberoi dons the role of a villain in “Krrish 3″, Aamir Khan turns antagonist for “Dhoom 3″.
Filmmaker Sajid Khan is set to entertain audiences with “Himmatwala”, a remake of the 1983 film of the same name. While the original film featured Jeetendra and Sridevi, the new film has Ajay Devgn and southern actress Tamannaah.
Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma will recreate the magic of the 1981 film “Chashme Buddoor” with an eponymous remake.
Southern superstar Ram Charan Teja will bring alive the young and angry cop Vijay in Apoorva Lakhia’s “Zanjeer”. It is a remake of 1973 film of the same name, which proved to be a turning point in megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s acting career.
Other films to look forward to in 2013 are “Aatma”, “I, Me Aur Main”, “Nautanki Saala”, “Ghanchakkar”, “Raanjhnaa”, “Ek Thi Dayan”, “Chennai Express” and “Lootera”.
“The prediction for 2013 is very positive. We have some big films coming up including ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Krissh 3′ and at the same time we also have many small and medium budget films in the line-up,” distributor Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combine told IANS.
