Akshay Kumar to lose weight for ‘Thuppakki’ remake

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, with his lean look and super fit physique, would need to lose more weight for his role as an army captain in A.R. Murugadoss’s remake of his Tamil hit ‘Thuppakki’. Akshay has been asked to lose seven kgs.
The movie`s shooting begins Dec 20, since the Christmas week is considered lucky by Murugadoss.
“He released his ‘Ghajini’ in December. Since then, Murugadoss has been excessively attached to the Christmas season. He was keen on staring the Hindi `Thuppakki` in the Christmas week, and Akshay was happy to oblige. The only problem is, he has two weeks to lose at least five kgs, and some more later to play an army captain at least 12 years junior to Akshay`s biological age,” said a source close to Murugadoss.
Akshay will also sport an army officer`s hairdo and look.
“The soldier-hero is never really shown in the army. The drama happens while he`s on leave. But we want Akshay to look like a young army jawaan, fit enough to take on the villains. Not only that. We actually want him to look like a real soldier,” said Murugadoss.
“He will be getting a crew-cut hair-styling done. We don`t want Akshay to look unconvincing as the soldier in any detail,” he added.
The demand to lose weight seems strange for a leading man, who is as lean as Akshay.
But Murugadoss explains: “Akshay is one of the fittest heroes in India. But to play the soldier, we want him to be slightly fitter. His shoulders should become more streamlined and his frame should be slimmer. Akshay has the physique for the role. He just needs to lose a little more weight and become slightly sharper around the edges.”
For the Tamil film, actor Vijay had actually gone for commando training to play the soldier.
“But Akshay is already into martial arts. So all he needs to do is just polish up his act. He has the know-how and the physical fitness,” says the director.
Incidentally for ‘Ghajini’, Aamir Khan had to bulk up and add muscle to his physique to play the self-trained fighter. In ‘Thuppakki’, Akshay goes the other way to get leaner and meaner.

Salman Khan and the entire team of Dabangg 2 had a very special visitor on the sets when they were shooting in Mehboob studios.
Guessing who this visitor is? Sources say that it was Salman’s good friend Aamir Khan who decided to pay a special visit to Chulbul Pandey as he was shooting in the neighborhood.
The actor who was shooting in the neighborhood decided to drop in on the sets for a quick chat with Salman bhai! The duo was seen sharing quite a few jokes, reliving their ANDAZ APNA APNA days.
A source said: “When Aamir Khan sir heard that Salman bhai was shooting in the neighborhood, he made it a point to come and visit him after wrapping up his shoot. Salman bhai was very happy with this kind gesture of Aamir sir and both of them chatted for quite a long time. Bhai even showed him a little footage of what we had shot that day.”
Well, it would have been a wonderful sight for the crew to watch both the Khan’s chatting and having a good time together on sets.

Actress Alia Bhatt says filmmaker Karan Johar, who directed her debut movie ‘Student Of The Year’ (SOTY), is the reason why she is now a fashion-conscious girl.
“Alia was not fashion conscious before she met Karan Johar. After meeting him, she became fashion conscious,” the 19-year-old said here Thursday at the unveiling of the cover page of fashion magazine Grazia. The cover featured her.
Meanwhile, Alia, who had recently gone for the Marrakech International Film Festival, where SOTY was screened, says she was honoured to be there.
“It was a lot of fun actually. Being at the Marrakech film fest just made me feel how lucky I was to be on that podium with so many big stars of our country,” said Alia, who was accompanied by her co-stars Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra at the movie extravaganza.
Alia further said she was shocked to see the kind of popularity that Bollywood has there.
“It was actually very shocking for us to know how famous Bollywood is internationally. They all were screaming, ‘Karan, we love you, Shah Rukh love you’! They were just going mad. I mean they are so big internationally, but it was just that we didn’t know that our films are so out there even in Marrakech in Morocco,” Alia said.

Akshay chooses Sonakshi over Parineeti for his next film

There has been a lot of speculation about Akshay Kumar’s leading lady in AR Murugadoss’ Thupakki – his second Hindi film after Ghajini (2008). While certain reports suggested that PeeCee Junior, Parineeti may be the one to star opposite the actor, insiders revealed that Sonakshi Sinha may just have landed her third film with Akki.
While some media reports claimed that Parineeti may have landed the coveted role, her spokesperson confirmed, “She is not doing the film.” As for Sonakshi, the chance to star with Akki for the third time was not without its share of near-misses.
Even while the casting was being finalised, there were rumours about Sonakshi being upset with Akki for not standing up for her candidature for the role despite she supporting his decision to boycott the promotions of Joker earlier in the year.
Says a source, “The fact that Sonakshi was possibly not the first choice for Thupakki did not agree with her since she had pinned her hopes on Akki. After Rowdy Rathore, Joker and the special appearance in Oh My God, she had hoped that Akki would reward her commitment by offering her the lead role in one of his biggest films this season. When that did not happen, she had retreated hurt.”
But all the bitterness may now be a thing of the past. In fact, we learnt that Akki and Sonakshi saw the original Tamil action thriller together last week. Incidentally, not just Sonakshi, several other actresses had been pitching hard for the lead role opposite Akki, who will be seen as an Army officer in the film.

Thiru directed Samar is said to be an action-adventure by Vishal with the music scores of Yuvan Shankar Raja. Makers have released the audio album of Samar recently and the soundtracks are entertaining the music lovers.

Actors have to worry about work not money: Imran

Quality of work is more important for actor Imran Khan than money.
“Actors have to worry about their work and not money. Producers are the guys who have to worry about the money,” Imran told news agency.
“There are films which have done massive business and nobody has liked them. To me, it is important that people should remember my films 20 to 30 years down the line. I should be proud of doing a film. Money will come and go what matters is what do people say when they talk about you,” he added.
Imran`s upcoming film “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” is slated to release early next year, and might turn out to be a big grosser of the first quarter of 2012.
However, Imran feels the release date of a film doesn`t matter.
“It really doesn`t matter when the film releases. What matters is, `Have people liked the film?`. The best I can say is that I am proud of this film and I am part of this film, beyond that nothing is in my hands,” said Imran.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” also features Anushka Sharma, Arya Babbar, Pankaj Kapoor and Shabana Azmi.

Shilpa Shetty signed the Star Plus show ‘Nach Baliye’

Actress Shilpa Shetty along with filmmaker Sajid Khan and choreographer Terence Lewis have been finalised to judge the comeback season of dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye’.
Lewis and Khan confirmed that they have already signed the Star Plus show, along with Shilpa.
“I have just signed for the new season of `Nach Baliye`. It is coming after two years. I will be on the show along with Sajid Khan and Shilpa Shetty. I am very excited,” Lewis told IANS.
The last edition of the dance reality show was aired in 2009 with Farah Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Arjun Rampal on the judges` seats.
Khan, who previously hosted talk show ‘Sajid`s Superstars’, also confirmed the news through an SMS.
Asked if he has signed on to judge ‘Nach Baliye’, he replied: “Yes, it`s true.”
On being probed further if the other judges are Lewis and Shilpa, he said: “Yes”.
Shilpa was previously seen on the small screen as a judge on dance reality shows ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 1’ and ‘Zara Nachke Dikha 2’. She had also hosted the first season of ‘Bigg Boss’.

Kajol: ADFs – YRFs controversy affected my relationships

Bollywood superstar Kajol, who has been one of the favourite actresses of Yash Raj Films with films like ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ and ‘Fanaa’, says the tussle between her husband Ajay Devgn’s production house and YRF affected her relationship with the latter.
“Yes, it affected my relationship. But that was a situation which had come out of ordinary. It was not a normal situation… It doesn’t occur normally. It doesn’t happen everyday… Hopefully, it will not happen in future again,” said Kajol on the sidelines of Agenda Aaj Tak’s session ‘Supertar-Supermom-to Superstar’.
The controversy began when ADF filed a complaint in the Competition Commission Of India (CCI) alleging that YRF used its dominant position in the market to get maximum screens for ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, which resulted in Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar’ not finding enough screens.
The 38-year-old actress married Devgn at the peak of her career and currently raises two children with him but that has not affected her demand in Bollywood.
Kajol, who starred in hits like ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’ post her marriage, said she is happy to see the industry going through a positive change.
“Time has changed in the industry. It’s a good time for women because people are willing to experiment now. Even our audience are bound to think and want something different. It’s a fantastic time for women in the industry as directors are taking a risk with them,” she said.
But she still feels that industry is being dominated by male actors. “I agree that it’s a perfect time for an actress to be in the industry but I still feel it’s male dominated. You can’t take away the male domination on the basis of female-oriented films doing good business in the box-office,” she added.
When politician Lalu Prasad Yadav asked her about the vulgar content in today’s films, Kajol said, “I agree with you. Being a mother, I also face difficulty to watch some films with my kids. But I feel that cinema reflect our society and its changes.”

Actor Johnny Depp has bought a house for girlfriend Amber Heard in Nashville, Tennessee.
Depp, 49, started a relationship with Heard, 26, a few months back, after separating from long-time partner Vanessa Paradis.
“Buying this house is the surest sign yet of how serious Johnny is about Amber,” thesun.co.uk quoted a source as saying.
“She’s always dreamt of having a ranch. They were going to buy one in Texas, where she’s from, but they fell in love with the Nashville property as soon as they set eyes on it,” the source added.
Staying away from Hollywood does not matter to Depp.
“Johnny isn’t bothered about living it up in Hollywood, he’d rather have the good life. While Amber loves to ride horses, Johnny’s serious about writing and playing music,” the source said.

Manisha Koirala has ovarian cancer, to be operated in NY

Manisha Koirala is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and she will undergo surgery in New York Dec 10. The Bollywood actress is positive she will overcome the disease.
Manisha was scheduled to undergo the surgery Thursday, but Subroto Ghosh, her manager, said that “after conducting certain tests, the doctors have decided to postpone it to Monday (Dec 10).”
Speculations swirled about her health last week, following her hospitalisation here Nov 28. The rumours about her cancer are now confirmed.
In a post on her Facebook page Thursday, Manisha, 42, admits she was shocked to know about her illness, but she is confident all will be well soon.
“Dear friends, thank you for all your wishes. I am in good place and in good hands. With all your love and prayers I am sure I’ll recover. It was shocking to know, but then life is full of surprises,” Manisha wrote.
“One must deal with it and move on with faith and dignity. Whatever is the outcome, it is for best. I know that. So people, don’t worry! I have had a beautiful life so far and I know, whatever will happen will all be good. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers… love, M Koirala,” she added.
The actress, who belongs to the politically influential Koirala family of Nepal, has taken the news gracefully and says it is part and parcel of life. She only wants her family, friends and fans to be happy.

Manisha was admitted to Mumbai’s Jaslok Hospital Nov 28 after she reportedly fell unconscious. However, the reason behind her illness was not made clear. Later it was reported that she is flying to the US for treatment.
The actress, who has worked in critically acclaimed films like “Dil Se” and “1942: A Love Story”, made her debut with “Saudagar” in 1991. She recently made a comeback with Ram Gopal Varma’s “Bhoot Returns”.

Kamal Haasan’s Viswaroopam is hitting the headlines from the past few days for its controversies on the film’s release on DTH on the first day. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is busy with the promotional campaign of the movie.
The audio launch of Viswaroopam for Tamil version is being released on 7th December while for the Telugu version it will be launched on 9th December and the movie is hitting the screens on January 11.
Starring Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose et al in the lead roles, Viswaroopam is the first Indian movie to adopt Auro 3D and second movie in the world. Kamal has directed and produced Viswaroopam, besides playing the lead role.

Srikanth Devaraya Releasing Today

Srikanth’s new movie titled Devaraya is hitting the big-screens this week in Tollywood. Meenakshi and Vidhisha played the female leads in the movie and Srikanth played the role of King Sri Krishna Devaraya in one of the two dual roles while in the other role he will be seen as Dora Babu from a village.
Srikanth says that he is blessed to do the movie like Devaraya The film has been directed by Nani Krishna who says that the film is a commercial drama but will have historical elements. Chakri composed the music for the film and Ravireddy Mallu scripted the screenplay and Veerababu Basina penned dialogues.
Let’s wait to see if Devaraya can set the cash registers ringing at the Box-office.

Salman Khan makes crew groove on ‘Hud hud dabangg’

Bollywood star Salman Khan not just knows how to keep his audience entertained, but also the members of his films’ crew. Recently, he made everyone on the set of “Dabangg 2″ groove to the hit number “Hud hud dabangg”.
The 47-year-old jumped up for an impromptu jig on the song from the 2012 blockbuster “Dabangg”.
Everyone did the signature belt step from the song, including his younger brother, and the film’s director-producer, Arbaaz Khan.
The movie, releasing Dec 21, also stars Sonakshi Sinha.

An industry source says that Dippy has recently signed an endorsement deal with a skin care brand for a whopping Rs 6 crore. This makes her one of the highest paid actresses in Bollywood currently. An informer states, “Her film Cocktail has paved the way for a lot of ad offers. Several brands have expressed interest in roping her in as their brand ambassador.”

Actress Katrina Kaif continues to be the most downloaded celebrity among Indians while her song ‘Chikni Chameli’ from movie Agneepath was the most downloaded song of the year. Popular song Kolaveri Di, which triggered 2,10, 000 downloads within 18 days last year, continued to remain most popular.
These and many more interesting facts were released by Bharti Airtel in ‘Airtel Mobitude 2012’, its annual survey that tracks customer preferences, likes and dislikes.
According to a press release from Bharti Airtel, the survey is the first-of-its-kind to capture the ‘mobile attitude’ of 186 million plus customers in the country.
As for the Telugu celebrities, imagery downloads of actor Trisha was 325 per cent higher than the number seen for top five actors put together from Mumbai.
The survey reports that wallpaper downloads witnessed a 300 per cent jump and recorded 75 million downloads. Mobile TV has emerged as India’s new hot favourite with 65 per cent jump in viewership and sports as a category grew with IPL viewership clocking a 74 per cent growth over last year, the survey report said.
The use of MMS has crossed one million mark on Diwali and jumped 145 per cent on the festive day for the first time in the country’s MMS traffic history. The navratri festival topped all events in terms of specialised content downloads traffic, the survey said.
Consumers in India continue to use Internet during late night hours. Maximum consumption of Internet is between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. and according to Airtel mobile Internet usage pattern, customers are preferring social networking, looking at pictures, downloading applications, playing games, listening to music, reading news and watching videos.

Khiladi 786 is slated on release this Friday at the Box Office and it is to take a Word of Mouth Opening on First Day. Yes you heard it right. Multiplex advance booking of Khiladi 786 is just average with around 15-20%. Anyways Masala Films Advance Booking is never been encouraging even earlier also. Hence, don’t give that much importance to this report also.
Khiladi 786 is Akshay Kumar and Asin starrer and is certain to take big opening at single screens at least considering the genre. Multiplex business is more or less will depend on the word of mouth. Khiladi 786 is releasing on normal working day and hence, Saturday and Sunday will definitely be bigger than Friday. How much the jump it might depend on word of mouth power.
Khiladi 786 is releasing in 2786 screens all India and it has immense potential to collect well at box office. As for Friday, makers are hoping to cross at least 10 crore nett mark and around 15 crore nett mark will be icing on the cake. Anyways everyone is ready, Khiladi Kumar is back to his favourite avatar after 12 long years, he is in rocking form this year.

Talash has collected around 4.0 crore nett all India as per early estimates on Wednesday at the box office. Talaash 7 day collection now stands at 68 crore nett. This are estimates now actual may vary. Talaash is registering drop each day in weekdays. Drop is around 15-20% which is normal, but the problem is collections are on lower end.
Talaash first week collection is now heading for 68 crore nett mark. Talaash will have stiff competition from Khiladi 786 coming this weekend. Although Talaash is mainly running in multiplexes and it has got potential to collect well there even in second weekend. Whether Talaash can touch or cross 100 crore or not, all will depend on 2nd weekend collections.

abhas Mirchi confirmed on Feb 7

Young Rebel Star Prabhas is all set to reach the big-screens shortly Mirchi on February 7. The film has reached the final leg of shooting schedules and it will be completed by 11^th December.
Currently, the final song of the film is being canned in a specially erected set in Annapurna 7 acres studio and the shoot will be carried out till 10^th December while it will be left with a bit of patch work and the Mirchi makers are planning to release it on 7^th February.
Mirchi movie directed by writer Koratala Siva casts Anushka and Richa Gangopadhyay as the leading ladies. The romantic and family entertainer made under UV Creations banner has musical scores by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Madhi.

Devaraya Movie Story Line:

Srikanth’s much-awaited movie Devaraya, which was delayed over its controversy over its depiction of Krishnadevaraya as a romantic dancer, has hit the marquee today. Prior to its release, the promos of the film had created a lot of curiosity among the film goers and the movie surely lives up to their expectations. It is good masala entertainer with a historical backdrop.
Devaraya is an epic fantasy film and Srikanth’s energetic performance is the main highlight in the movie. Chakri’s music, stunning fights, Nani Krishna’s script and dialogues, wonderful cinematography, beautiful costumes and artwork are the other attractions of the movie.
This socio-fantasy movie is based on the life and times of Sri Krishnadevaraya. Srikanth has played dual roles like a village guy Dora Babu and Devaraya. Director Nani Krishna has nicely connected a present day incident to the historical backdrop of Krishnadevaraya. The first half of the film has a little story, but it is rich in mass commercial elements like comedy, action and romantic songs. The movie takes a serious mode in the second half and climax is simply superb.
Dora Babu (Srikanth) is a reckless, irresponsible, hedonistic guy in a nondescript village. This colourful village casanova makes his entry with an act of violence. One day, he claims that he is Devaraya. Why does he make this eerie claim? What is Devaraya’s connection with Dora Babu? The rest of the movie answers all these questions on screen.

Stars Performance in Devaraya Movie:

Srikanth’s performance is ok in this movie. As Dorababu, he tried to imitate Megastar Chiranjeevi’s style for the comedy department. During his performance as Krishna Devaraya, he tried to imitate Sr NTR’s diction and dialogue delivery.
Vidisha is good and she may have some future in the industry if she takes care of her projects. Meenakshi Dixit is strictly average. Veteran actor Balayya, Ranganath, Sivaji Raja, M.S. Narayana, Raghu Karumanchi and Jayaprakash Reddy try their best to liven up the proceedings to a certain extent. Some visual effects and a few scenes from Krishna Devaraya’s court have been shot well.

Technicalities in Devaraya Movie:

Nani Krishna’s direction is poor and he does not have any grasp over the basic aspects of narration and screenplay. Editing is atrocious. Cinematography is just about ok. Veerababu’s dialogues are bad.
Like I said before, Chakri’s music is very bad and he does not lend any strength to the movie. Production values are mediocre.

Negatives Elements  in Devaraya Movie:

The plot of this movie has more holes than a sponge and just like a sponge soaks up water, this film will soak up the viewer’s patience. There is virtually no story in the first half and there are way too many bad songs.

The scenes are loud, poorly written and have absolutely no logic. If you had a great image of King Sri Krishna Devaraya, you will be disappointed with the way he has been portrayed in this movie.
There are too many foolish sequences in the film. In the flashback episodes, King Krishna Devaraya’s character keeps shifting between present day Telugu and ancient Telugu in the same dialogue!! The actor who is seen as Jayaprakash Reddy’s brother looks very comical with a hideous wig. The central plot of trying to build a cement factory in a place containing an ancient temple is never given its due importance.
The placement of songs is atrocious. Just when the film tries to gain some momentum, these songs appear and drive the pace right into the ground.
Some graphics sequences are very poorly executed and while that is understandable, given the low budget of the film, they should not have been attempted in the first place with such limitations.
Chakri’s music and background score make things worse. The climax simply falls flat and there is no reason for that Chandramukhi style dance (with the Chandramukhi costume) in the first place.

Final word about Devaraya Movie:

Srikanth is a nice guy with a family hero image and it is sad to see him in films like this. ‘Devaraya’ is a movie that has absolutely nothing going for it. Do yourself a favour and stay away from it unless you want to watch the movie out of an academic interest to see what shouldn’t be done by a director.

Box Office Aspect in Devaraya Movie:

With OK OK comedy, Devaraya is expected to do goof business at boxoffice for this weekend. lets wait and see how audience receive it..
