నందమూరి హీరో బాలకృష్ణ ప్రభావంతో తెలుగుదేశం కార్యనిర్వాహక కార్యదర్శి పీలా శ్రీనివాస్‌పై సస్పెన్షన్ వేటు పడింది. ఆయనను తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీ అధ్యక్షుడు నారా చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు శనివారం పార్టీ నుంచి సస్పెండ్ చేశారు. ఎన్టీఆర్ వర్ధంతి సందర్భంగా విశాఖపట్నం జిల్లా పెందుర్తిలో ఘర్షణ చోటు చేసుకోవడంపై చంద్రబాబు తీవ్ర అసంతృప్తిని వ్యక్తపరిచారు. పార్టీ నిబంధనలు ఉల్లంఘించినందుకు పిలా శ్రీనివాస్‌ను బాబు సస్పెండ్ చేస్తూ ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేశారు. ఎన్టీఆర్ 17 వర్ధంతి సందర్భంగా పెందర్తిలో ఎన్టీఆర్ విగ్రహానికి పూలమాల వేయడానికి వచ్చిన మాజీ మంత్రి బండారు సత్యనారాయణమూర్తిని శ్రీనివాస్ వర్గీయులు అడ్డుకుని దాడి చేసిన విషయం తెలిసిందే. విశాఖపట్నం పెందుర్తిలో పార్టీ వర్గాల మధ్య జరిగిన ఘర్షణ విషయంలో బాలకృష్ణ శుక్రవారం వెంటనే స్పందించారు. మాజీ మంత్రి బండారు సత్యనారాయణ మూర్తిని ఆయన ఫోన్‌లో పరామర్శించారు. దాడి సంఘటనను మనసులో పెట్టుకోవద్దని ఆయన సత్యనారాయణ మూర్తికి సూచించారు. బండారు సత్యనారాయణ మూర్తిపై దాడి చేసినవారిపై చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని ఆయన పార్టీకి సూచించారు. వ్యవహారాన్ని క్రమశిక్షణా సంఘం పరిశీలించి, తగిన చర్యలు తీసుకునేలా చూస్తానని ఆయన బండారుకు హామీ ఇచ్చారు. ఎన్టీ రామారావు విగ్రహానికి నివాళులు అర్పించడానికి వచ్చిన బండారు సత్యనారాయణ మూర్తిపై పీలా శ్రీనివాస్ వర్గీయులు దాడి చేశారు. దీంతో తీవ్ర మనస్తాపానికి గురైన బండారు సత్యనారాయణ మూర్తి - పీలాపై పార్టీ అధిష్టానానికి ఫిర్యాదు చేస్తానని చెప్పారు.

He should be called ‘Ulaga Iyakunar’ rather than ‘Ulaga Nayagan’. I just feel so proud that Kamal is a Tamilian, a friend of mine and loves cinema the way I do.” praised Balu Mahendra.

Stephenie Meyer’s ‘The Host’ new poster

Hollywood movies goers are in for an electrifying January, as PVR Pictures releases a character poster of their upcoming movie ‘The Host’. The movie will be released on 29th March 2013.
Directed by Andrew Niccol, the movie is based on a book written by Stephenie Meyer of the Twilight Saga fame. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan who plays Melanie Stryder. The colour scheme used in the poster helps Melanie Stryder stand out. The Sci-Fi thriller revolves around a journey of the lead character whose body is injected with a parasitic alien soul.
The film takes a twist when Melanie Stryder bonds with her host and sets out to aid other free humans instead of carrying out her race’s mission of taking over the Earth.

Diego Klattenhoff Leaving ‘Homeland’ Season 3

Diego Klattenhoff is leaving “Homeland.”
According to TVLine, Klattenhoff, who plays Mike on Showtime’s CIA drama, will not be a series regular when “Homeland” returns on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. However, Klattenhoff could return in a recurring capacity. The report says Morena Baccarin is expected to return to the series as a regular part of the cast.
Claire Danes recently shot down reports that she’d be leaving the series after the birth of her son. “I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now,” Danes, who gave birth to a baby boy on Dec. 17, told Elle. “When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it … I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus … that I wanted to act.”
As for Damian Lewis, whose character Brody was last seen fleeing the country, “Homeland” executive producer Howard Gordon said the Emmy and Golden Globe winner will return.
“He’s alive so of course he’ll be back,” Gordon told TVLine. “One of the great challenges of next [season] is how he’ll be back. But there’s no doubt that he will be back.”

“Parks and Recreation” is introducing Ben’s (Adam Scott) sister. “The X-Files” and “Pretty Little Liars” veteran Annabeth Gish will play Stephanie in an upcoming episode of the NBC comedy.
“Arrow” actress Jessica De Gouw will star in “Dracula.” De Gouw will play Mina opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Dracula.
“24″ actress Leslie Hope has joined “Revolution.” Hope, who recently appeared on “The River,” will play President Foster on the NBC drama.

Madhavi Latha ready to thrill

Madhavi Latha who created a sensation with her debut in Tollywood with Nachchavule, is getting ready to thrill starring in action flicks in her upcoming flicks. Madhavi is back to films after study break.

Bollywood`s ‘Munni’ Malaika Arora Khan has been signed on to endorse a new vodka brand.The brand, launched by Jagatjit Industries Limited, is called IICE. The philosophy of the brand, available in two flavours – Green Apple and Orange, is `As hot as ice!`.
We look forward to growing our sales and market share quickly. We truly believe that a quality product never goes unappreciated in the market and are confident that IICE will be a brand to reckon with in the coming years,” Vinod Kumar Banga, COO, Jagatjit Industries Limited, said in a statement.
The initial to IICE has been encouraging, according to the company spokesperson.Its pan-India launch is expected to be completed by February.

Mamta Mohandas files for divorce

It was not very long ago actress Mamta Mohandas got married to Prajith Padmanabhan. The duo tied the knot on December 28, 2011 and a few months later, differences started cropping up between the two.
The couple then applied for divorce by mutual consent in Ernakulam’s family court.
Though their family members tried to patch them up, there was no cange in the situation. The actress’s case will come for a hearing on July 15.
Mamta Mohandas was last spotted in Arun Vijay’s Thadaiyara Thaaka. Mamta has also acted opposite Madhavan and Vishal in Kollywood.

Inkaar and Mumbai Mirror at Box Office

Bollywood has witnessed a lackluster beginning at the Box Office in 2013. Although several biggies have hit the marquee in the first two weeks of the year, none is successful in making it big at the ticket windows.
The third week witnessed three new releases like Inkaar, Mumbai Mirror and Bandook, but all of them have opened to a dull response at the Indian collection centres on the first day. Inkaar and Mumbai Mirror are two much-hyped and much-awaited Hindi movies. Since there were no big regional releases either in North or South India, they were expected to open to a grand response at the domestic Box Office.
But both Bollywood movies have failed to reach the expectations of the viewers. On the first day, Inkaar starring Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh in leads, has received better response when compared to other new releases Mumbai Mirror and Bandook.
The Sudhir Mishra directed flick has registered little better footfalls in some select multiplexes than in single screens. But overall, its occupancy is below the expected mark. It needs to show a big jump over the weekend to recover its production cost. Whereas Aazaan fame Sachiin Joshi’s Mumbai Mirror and Bandook have registered very poor occupancy across the country.
They need a miraculous growth in their business to sustain in the coming days. However, old release Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Naayak and Saadi Love Story have once again become the first choice for many movie goers in different regional areas in the country.

Government to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema

A tableau by the ministry of information and broadcasting during the Jan 26 Republic Day parade will portray the journey of the Indian film industry over 100 years, ministry secretary Uday Kumar Verma said here Friday.
We have many plans to celebrate the completion of 100 years of Indian cinema. The Republic Day tableau is one of them, where we will depict a portrayal of the well known film that the industry has seen in the last year,” Verma told reporters here Friday.
Verma also appealed to the people to view the YouTube channel of the ministry and the information that has been provided on centennial year celebrations of the industry.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s tableau on Republic Day seeks to portray how the strips of celluloid have harnessed a nation’s aspirations and dreams, as manifested in the vision of its filmmakers for 100 years,” said Verma quoting the YouTube channel.
The central idea of the tableau is the ‘re-interpretation of the quintessential Indian motif of the mythological flying bird boat, the Mayur Pankhi’.
According to the YouTube video, which has a voiceover by acclaimed actor Irrfan, the tableau carries an image of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, and has names of iconic films like ‘Mother India’ and ‘Sholay’ inscribed on it.
Verma said that the I&B ministry is also rolling out a series of events across the country to mark 100 years of the Indian film industry.During the year-long celebration, 100 classics that shaped not just the industry but also mirrored the changing society will be telecast across India.
“Film festivals across the country and are being held by the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) and National Film Archives of India (NFAI) as a part of the celebrations,” he said.The films will be screened at state capitals and will showcase the 100 films with an exhibition of posters and photos.
A special commemorative stamp will also be released to commemorate the occasion. As a boon for foreign film directors who have been making a beeline for Indian locales for shooting, the government will launch a film commission next year.
A single- window clearance system will also be set up for all those producers and directors who run from pillar to post to get clearances on shooting locations.
This will save the filmmakers lot of hassle and boost tourism,” Verma said.
A films heritage mission aimed at restoring and preserving old movies will also be initiated in a few months,” he added.
A national students’ film festival will be jointly organised by the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (MKBKM) collects 41.15 crore in first week

‘Matru ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’, (MKBKM), a political satire with a dollop of humour, may not have got an overwhelming response but it has recovered its costs by collecting Rs. 41.15 crore worldwide in the first week of its release, making it Vishal Bhardwaj’s biggest film yet.
Fox Star Studios and VB Pictures made ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ for Rs.33 crore. It has garnered Rs.33.15 crore net at the domestic box office and Rs.8 crore from the overseas market. The revenues from TV, Music and Home Video further boosted its profit, said a statement.
Criticism notwithstanding, Bhardwaj is happy and said: ‘This is my biggest opening and appreciation is coming from a lot of people. But I am really happy and relieved about the fact that I am able to make the kind of movie that I want to make and still have a profitable film.”
Critics have lauded Pankaj Kapur’s performance in the film, which also sees superb acting by Shabana Azmi. The two veterans are ably supported by Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Arya Babbar.Pritish Nandy calls it a “wicked wit” and added that Pankaj Kapur has proved again “his peerless acting prowess”.
Vijay Singh, CEO FoxStar Studios, feels MKBKM has “polarised audiences and is testimony to the changing audience preferences…”A satirical commentary on the country’s social system, MKBKM story takes place in a small town in Haryana.

Even Amitabh Bachchan praised Bhardwaj’s endeavour to target corruption in the society using satire as a medium to talk to the masses, and tweeted: “A land issue much like Singur, rich and poor divide, communism of takes, anti-alcohol, love triangle (DDLJ style), politics – all portrayed in a manner not unknown to us, yet unknown ….a composite satire, if ever satires could be composite.”
For Anurag Kashyap ‘Matru…’ is “the most kickass funny, intelligent and relevant film of our times”.

We Can’t Say SVSC is Trend-Setter

Super Star Mahesh Babu and Victory Venkatesh’s multi-starrer ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ is undoubtedly one of the clean entertainers of recent times. This is what the reason for family audience watching the movie more than once. But one section of media is writing ‘Athi’ about this film. They say, SVSC is a trend-setter and we are going to see more such kind of films in near future.
But this is not a good idea.SVSC doesn’t have extraordinary concept but director Srikanth Addala made it a perfect treat of emotions. He worked hard on every single frame and this took about three years to complete entire script. We can see Telugu nativity and traditions in most of the sequences. But, these days no one will dare to spend such long time on script.
Even it is not suggestible making multi-starrer projects in just family drama genre.Basic reason for SVSC scoring a smashing success is Telugu people are enjoying to watch two leading heroes on same single screen. This experiment may not work for second time. Thus, we can’t say SVSC is a trend
setter and better our directors should not try such films again.

Camera Didn’t Make Newcomer Thulasi Nair Nervous

Thulasi Nair faced the camera for the first time for forthcoming Tamil romantic-drama “Kadal” and didn’t experience any butterflies in her stomach.
“This may be my first appearance in front of the camera but I had no problem facing it because it was just an object for me”, Thulasi told IANS.
Daughter of yesteryear actress Radha Nair, Thulasi is paired opposite another debutant Gautham Karthik in the film, written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam.
Talking about her association with Ratnam, she said: “Mani sir helped me to bring the out the character which was already hidden within me and since acting runs in my genes, it wasn’t difficult.”
A.R. Rahman has composed the music for the film, which also stars Arvind Swamy, Arjun, Lakshmi Manchu and Thambi Ramaiah. It is releasing on Feb 1.
Meanwhile, Thulasi has bagged another project “Yaan” opposite Jiiva and is currently busy shooting for the Tamil romantic-drama.
