At a time when the UPA government is trying to criticise Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the lack of development in the state, the BJP government in the state received praise from the most unlikeliest of quarters.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was in the city to promote a jewellery brand, did not shy from praising the success story of Gujarat. The 39-year-old actor praised the state government for the robust growth seen in the state and added that “Gujarat has been going from strength to strength.”
Aishwarya’s comment comes at a time when the state is in the midst of hectic political activity and campaigning for the assembly elections.
Interestingly, Aishwarya is married to Abhishek Bachchan, whose father and megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in as the brand ambassador of Gujarat. The first phase of elections will be held in Gujarat on December 13 followed by the second phase on December 17. The results are scheduled to be declared on December 20.
