A film financing firm has lodged a complaint against the release of
the film ‘Viswaroopam’ accusing Kamal Haasam of violating the agreement
signed the actor long back.
Kamal was supposed to work for the flick ‘Marmayogi’, which has a 17th Century backdrop and costs Rs 100 crore, in the year 2008. Unfortunately this project didn’t take off till now and in the meantime, he has done three films namely Eenadu, Manmadha Banam and now Vishwroopam.
According to the petitioner, Kamal violated the agreement by acting other projects and also failed to return Rs 4 crore remuneration he took for both playing the lead and directing the film.
Madras high court has issued notices to the Kamal and his production house Rajkamal Films International. This case is mounting pressure on the legendary actor as Rs 90 crore project ‘Viswaroopam’ worldwide release was planned for the coming Pongal and the DTH screening ahead of theatrical release.
