Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association and the Confederation of
Theatre Owners and Distributor’s Associations have announced their stand
on the release of Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam. They have confirmed that
the film will not be released in entire state for the actor’s decision
to air the film directly on DTH platforms.
The meeting was held on Thursday in Tirchy (January 3) and the guilds have passed the resolution to boycott Vishwaroopam. Neither distributors will buy the film nor theatre owners will screen those movies, which will be directly aired on DTH platforms, said an association member. Rama M Annamalai, state president of the Theatre Owners Association, claimed that they are still open for negotiation with Kamal Hassan.
But he has given a deadline to Kamal by stating that the settlement should happen before the release of Vishwaroopam on DTH i.e., before January 10. He further added that they have taken the decision to protect the interest of theatres and distributors and they are not against any stars.
