Akshay Kumar’s latest film ‘Special Chabbis’ which released last
Friday on February 8, has succeeded in hitting the bull’s eyes. Not only
the film has garnered rave reviews from the critics, it has also
received great response from the audience and is still performing strong
at the ticked windows.
The heist drama was directed by Neeraj Pandey whose first film ‘A Wednesday’ was also hailed by critics. The director is now enjoying the response his latest film has got.
Talking about the film’s success, Neeraj reveals that he was more concerned this time than he was at the time of ‘A Wednesday’ as ‘Special Chabbis’ had Akshay Kumar in the lead role and he was worried about the audience’s reactions to the superstar’s unusual character.
“There was less at stake in ‘A Wednesday’ as it didn’t feature any major stars. But ‘Special 26’ featured Akshay Kumar and we were anxious to see how audiences reacted to his character and performance,” says Neeraj.
However, all of his worries are over now as ‘Special Chabbis’ has finally proven to be a great film.
“Fortunately audiences have embraced Akshay’s unusual performance. The response to the film has been very good,” relishes the director.
After the film’s glorious success, Akshay Kumar and producer Viacom 18 are now interested in coming up with the sequel and Neeraj also believes that its sequel would make a fascinating story.
“I’ve left the ending open. We saw Akshay’s character leave the country with his girl. It would now be interesting to see what happens to him and his colleagues,” concludes he.
Meanwhile, Neeraj is right now concentrating on his first film as a producer ‘Aman Ki Asha’. The film stars Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam in the lead roles and it’s going to be a romantic comedy.
