Megastar Chiranjeevi-starrer Rudraveena, which was released on March
4, 1988 completed 25 years. The film, which stars Chiranjeevi and
Shobana, was directed by directed by K. Balachander and produced by
Nagendra Babu (Chiranjeevi’s brother).
Rudraveena is a take on the fight between stubborn social practices and contemporary society and director Balachander was showered with praises for his narration. Maestro Ilayaraja’s music was one of the highlights of the film.
While Chiranjeevi won Nandi Award for Best Actor (Jury) category with the film, Ilayaraja and S.P. Balasubramaniam won National Awards for Best Music Director and Best Male Playback Singer. Rudraveena also won Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration.
