‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is out and out Love Story

Karan Johar’s latest film is going to be Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and the filmmaker states it will be after long that Bollywood see an out and out love story.
Karan believes the last film which can be called an essential love story was Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’ and his latest film also falls into the same genre.
Interestingly, Karan, who started his directorial career with superhit romantic film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, admits that ‘YJHD’ is the only other film of his production house that can be put in the same bracket of his directorial debut.
About his latest film, Karan says, “I would define the film as a perfectly formulated formulaic love story. After ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, ‘YJHD’ can be put in the same bracket.”
Meanwhile, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is directed by Ayan Mukherjee who earlier directed ‘Wake Up Sid’ for Dharma.
But being director himself, did Karan give his inputs in the making of the love story?
Denying his involvement in the product, Karan replies, “I can’t take any credit for it. It’s completely Ayan’s baby. My involvement has been limited to lending financial and moral support. Otherwise it belongs to Ayan, Ranbir, Deepika and also Aditya and Kalki.”
‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is Karan’s first release of 2013. It’s scheduled to hit the screens on May 31.
